Make 'Em Sweat! *Actual Screens Added*
« on: May 28, 2009, 16:22:35 »
Well, I finally started to learn GM on my own, and I've put together the basics for a game. I won't say much about it, except that it's coming along slowly. I'm just learning as I go, so it's taking awhile. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get a hold of CPW and talk about this in awhile, so I don't know if this is still a collaboration. However, the bottom screen is actually taken from the game! That's what I call progress.

If anyone is interested in testing a playable version, or just helping out, please holler at me. I'll holler back.

This is a typical situation a prospective game designer/maker finds themselves in. The sad thing is that ideas, no matter how good, are ten a penny and people with programming knowledge aren't usually willing to work on someone else's ideas, especially if they don't have a track record. Having said that, there are many free and relatively easy to use game creators: AGS, MMF2, Game Maker, Construct to name a few. I'd recommend trying out Construct, following a tutorial (there are video ones!) and seeing where that takes you. Don't give up, and good luck!

EDIT: If you wanna discuss game dev a bit more, feel free to chat to me about it on IRC ;)

i figured this topic would end up here... anyway, ive been looking at gamemaker. its confusing. at the same time i havent put a lot of effort into figuring it out. in the tutorials ive looked at, i cant seem to find any descriptions of what ive got in mind, so its a little frustrating i guess.

I'm gonna need to know your ideas to see if I'm interested (judging by your levels I will be). I have a little MMF2 experience.

Hm. A kind of rhythm action game? Interesting idea (and strange graphics style :P ).

Hope you find someone to make it with you!

...those graphics are epic. XD
I'm making a rhythm game myself right now; it's rather different from what this looks like, but I dunno, I might be able to help. :3

let me guess: you must save the pot plant by successfully performing a rain dance to water it. and half of you is outside.

You make the plant in the mug grow by sweating on it, right? :P
