Ipod/IPhone music apps
« on: May 15, 2009, 07:10:00 »
I've recently bought an Ipod Touch, and I'm looking into some good music production/synths/guitar tools/whatever for it. I currently have PocketGuitar (recommend), AirGuitar, BeBot (highly recommend), and PocketPiano. Looking at Noise.io and FourTrack ($10 each!)
Any other recommendations?

EDIT: Recommended Apps. After looking around for a while, I've tried all of these, and they're by far my favorite.
Looptastic (Producer Edition) - Loop studio. $10
Noise.io - In-depth synth. $10
BeBot - Robot synth. $2
Beatmaker - Music studio. $20
DigiDrummer - Drum pads. $3
Guitar Toolkit - guess. $10

SunVox - Portable tracker with an extremely innovative interface - $5
Pluto Pluto - Drum toy. Creates unique beats. $3
Synth Probe - KAOSS like synth with a cool arpeggiator feature - $3
Argon - Complex synth program $3
8bitone - 8-bit synth app - $.99 (? changes constantly)

Might be a little pricey, but they're all definitely worth it.

You can make your own apps right?  :O

I've heard gel breaking your itouch gets you a new one with pre-paid apps.

That's definitely on topic.
And yes, anyone can make apps. And sell them through Itunes, if that's what you're asking.

Im just going to answer my own question (not receiving much help  <_<). After researching a bunch:
Beatmaker: In-depth music studio, external support for programs like StarGuitar and Noise.io - $20
StarGuitar: Chord-based guitar app - $3
Medolica: Quick little experimental music app - $1
DigiDrummer: Drumpad with a bunch of presets - $2
Chordplay: Chord-based guitar app - $2
iDaft: Daft punk "HBFS" soundboard - free

And of course all the aforementioned.
These are the prices at the time that I found them.

Oh. Haha.
It's called "jailbreaking" and it doesn't "get you a new one", it allows for you to add on third-party apps. Apple is against this of course, as it allows you to steal apps.

I like gel since the jell is what caused me to get the itouch
(iphone, see the difference?)

I have no idea what you're saying
By "gel break" do you mean "jailbreak"?

And yes, I know the difference between an iPod Touch and an iPhone  :sigh:

Yes.

Anyway, so I'm not wasting forumspace:
I downloaded both Beatmaker and Noise.io, they're both well worth the money for anyone who into music production. Noise.io is a full-featured synth, very versatile, and Beatmaker is a pretty in-depth mini music studio. However, they're only for those who know a bit about synths and music programs already, as they come with little instruction and can be hard to learn. But well worth the money if you're into that sort of stuff.

It's called "jailbreaking" and it doesn't "get you a new one", it allows for you to add on third-party apps. Apple is against this of course, as it allows you to steal apps.
Actually, as installer (the jail break appstore) came before appstore, any pre-existent apps around before they were released onto appstore are legal. Also, even though apple claims it is illegal, I have looked through the legal information on the itouch and found that any manipulation, destruction, or rewriting of any program or installment on your ipod touch/iphone is legal. Me and the two other people in the world that noticed this (who reads legalities? :P ) realized that it is in fact illegal for apple to ban the installer and cydia installer. To humor myself, I went in to an apple store and asked a representative if jailbreaking was illegal. They of course replied yes. I then asked if I could browse around one of their demo iphones, and I found the article I was looking for. I then found the representative and asked him what the paragraph meant. Stunned, he replied something like "Oh it just means you can download onto or manipulate your iphone however you want." I continued into the subject and re-broached the topic of jailbreaking. I asked, if I can manipulate my personal phone however I want, why couldn't I install an app that is independent from apple, giving me access to further manipulation? He said that third party management isn't allowed by apple. I then pointed out the paragraph where it states I can manipulate my phone through a third party, and how after it is sold to me it is illegal to tell me what I can or can't do with it unless stated before bought. What that means, is after I buy the itouch and installer is created, the people who bought an itouch before they claim it to be illegal are 100% safe. Those who purchased afterwords can find the very same license agreement, and if they are interested they can go to an apple store and go through the same process.
I realize that was a little off topic but I wanted to share my findings :P
It is in fact legal to download any free apps as long as you don't steal directly from apple. Plus, theres gameboys and what not on installer.. its so much better :D
