transparent CO
« on: May 12, 2009, 17:00:29 »
i'm trying to make a full-screen white flash that fades with a transparency frame by frame, in order to sort of simulate lightning. what would be the easiest/best program to attempt this? i always use mspaint for everything, and im pretty sure you cant make a simple transparency with it. in fact, ive never made any transparent mess before, so im kind of at a loss... any suggestions?  :)

You can do something like this in GIMP, but it is a little tedious.
Just make blocks of color with increasing transparency until it is completely transparent (or nothing).

uggh. in my opinion, gimp is needlessly complicated. i tried to figure out a way to do it, but im new to gimp... so making a fullscreen-sized frame is... yeah. would anyone be interested in helping?

Really? I always thought GIMP was too simple compared to, like, PhotoShop. To each her own I guess.
I don't think I could really help since I've been kinda busy with stuff lately.

You could use Paint.NET, it's quite simple.

In the Colors pane you can click on the More>> button and alter the transparency value there. I did something like that for a 'red alarm' CO, using the Filler tool with different transparency levels on small images and then put them together.
