Juni's TVA Adventure [Large, Normal, Maze]

I'm a new here [at forum], but i adore and play Knytt games a lot. While playing other's player's levels i never got to design my own thing. It is because i was lacking a inspiration, a lot of things and ideas you lads covered so my thing could be bad.

And then Loki show comes up, i'm still in awe of whole TVA complex. It have 1000+ pillars which is bigger than Burj Khalifa and 1000+ separate complex which contain huge evidence and case's archive/cafeteria/etc.

All of that gives me awesome idea, making a TVA in Knytt Stories  C)

Currently i'm on designing tilesheet, planning design of a pillar and making sure to contain missions like Roxxcart/Lamentis-1/Void/Citadel on End of Time.

This is basic template for TVA Archive department. The grey part will have grey/orange line. Layer 1 will be desks, archive shelf, layer 2 will be other minor decorations.

TVA Archive is part of huge rectangle flat thingy. There is Timeline Control Unit, hospitality and huge cantina.

In huge pylon thingies is rest of units; like Variants scanner, dress eraser, time theater, locker room,, time prison, etc.

Even now i'm not so sure about placement of rooms, but i will figure out latter. Now i'm in faze of creating tilesets. Beside Gobi scene, everything you see will be dramatically different.

The graphics look nice so far. I especially like the wall paper in p04. It's fine for a level to be huge when there are interesting things to do. Most of these sample images have flat corridors which aren't interesting to play through.

Thank you for response.

Mostly things inside TVA is flat with a lot of stairs, and other side missions like Gobi in 2012 (where Loki is arrested), Roxxcart (only first floor supermarket), Oshkosh (circus tent), Time Keeper chamber and Vesuvius.

But Lamentis-1, The Void and Citadel at the End of Time seems interesting.

I had one rough week at work, but now i had two weeks off, this is actually first done screen. What you see is edge of spherical part of huge pillars (green circle on second picture).

The second picture is from Making of Loki, it shows how big is TVA. So that put a lot of work, because i don't want to make small world. It must have a lot of screens but in same time that mean making a one pattern and copying that and paste it idk 50, 100, 1000 times.

For the first time since start of project i had idea of how it would look but making story with fusion of Loki show script with Juni overall character and what is Knytt Stories overall is now what bugs me.

So i want to make it simple, Juni will be character in story which looking for 4 keys (standard Juni's story) but clues on where is it will be minimal and it will had quotes from Loki show. When Juni collect 4 keys, she then must find out where is Time Keeper Chamber. After that Juni will be "pruned" to The Void. A mid challenging level which will had Citadel at the End of Time in some point. The transition from The Void and Citadel at the End of Time will be something like like aerial levels on Power Blade 1 NES version.

So because this is Maze, meeting with Who He Remain will be ending. Cut scene at ending will show how Juni is betrayed and transfered again to TVA via portal. Final cut screen will be Juni in TVA Archive with Kang in background.

TVA archive stories name done, a had 105 different acronyms. So because TVA's rectangle thingy had 4 big archives on sides and mine map will be 2d so i will have 2x52 buildings.

Well this is certainly an ambitious project. What ego said is true though and I feel like it could sour the overall experience if most of the many screens are just flat corridors. Might want to take some time to figure out how you arrange your screens. Good luck! :)

Thanks, the way whole TVA will go is like mesh. Elevators via umbrella is thing to travel big distances and between stairs with one block it will be simple fake stairs which could be easily navigated through jump.

Here is first screen of TVA after Gobi dessert in 2012.

That, uh, is certainly a lot. Just a note here: when there are a lot of screens and/or shifts and stuff the game will slow down significantly with load times (this was proven in Define by KG). So that's something to keep in mind.

Thanx for advice, this made me rethink the concept. Maybe i could make a little mesh in center and couple pillars to be like Korin Tower from Dragon Ball cartoon.
