[normal][challenge] Scorching Sun
« on: April 22, 2009, 10:38:52 »
Well its done....
It started like a test level on mixing tilesets to make landscape but then i got more into to it and added a story (roughly)
if you think its all desert your wrong because the landscape changes multiple times

Story line
You've been in the desert as long as you could remember but suddenly one day something falls from the sky, you go to explore to see what it is...really just your average knytt story

There are three endings:
Normal
Random
Bad

Spoiler: (click to show/hide)

Also there are some power-ups:
run
high-jump
umbrella
yellow key

so download, play it, critizes it and comment on it  :)

also if you find a note that says "the author has lost his interest" that means i ran out of ideas, so if people actually like this level then i might make an expansion, if this level isnt that good then ill just leave it.

and some screenies

I thought I'd played this level, but I don't recognise the screenies, so I'll give it a go.

It certainly looks very nice, anyway!

Very nice job!  I've gotten to one ending, but I think/hope it's not the only one.

I like the irony, the author and level name juxtaposed.

Yes there are three endings

whats all this "the author has lost interest" business? is this not finished?

Well if you read the post with the download link i have stated that at those points i ran out of ideas, so think of it as a "pause". Once i get more ideas on what to do i might make an expansion of the level. Those areas dont effect the endings in anyway but they do expand to the level.

@4a

juxtaposed? what does that mean?

Also Heres some questions (just want some feedback)
Did the level feel like it was rushed?
Did the tilesets go well with each other?
Was there something you DIDN'T like about this level?
Was there an errors (SGE, walswims, voids etc..)?

Thank you for any feedback

@4a

juxtaposed? what does that mean?

Baaah. There's dictionary.com, ya know. >.>
Juxtaposed is like "put next to each other". When you put two things together to see the similarities or differences, you have juxtaposed them.
Here, it's "Strange Darkness" juxtaposed with "Scorching Sun". The irony is that a really bright sun came from darkness, in a manner of speaking.

This was a lot of fun to play.
I really enjoyed backtracking through areas with new items and being able to access new places.
If you're planning on expanding this, please do.

I've found two of the endings.
I have all of the items available.
Is there a yellow door I'm not finding?

Meh, it was okay. But there were a lot of SGE's and bad enemy placement. Or good, if you were trying for Intense.
A God, a Messiah, an Angel, a King, a Prince, and an All Terrain Vehicle.

yeah its not suppose to be above average... just average, just letting that out.
and yes there were alot of purposefull SGE's because well ... i just did *shrugs*
and by bad enemy placement do you mean me putting an enemy so its hard to get past them (not just dumb luck?) because yeah i did that
i guess ill change the title to very hard ....
also ill fix those SGE's in the expansion.... (when i get to it that is )

EDIT: And that will be never, i have more interest in these levels im wrking on Empty Corridor, Scavenger and GR!M
