Desktop Showcase!

That's my Windows desktop, but I dual boot SUSE 11.1 w/KDE 4.2:

After getting fed up with Windows taking more than 15 minutes to load up fully on this computer (yes, it was quite bloated), I decided that it might be the right time to try out Linux. Since I was basically a Linux newbie at the time, I decided to install Ubuntu and see how much better it could run than Windows ever did on this computer. I was quite surprised how well it ran, even with all of the desktop effects I decided to enable (). So yeah, here's my current desktop:

No, I didn't. I wish I could take photos like that.

Where is all the icons, taskbar, etc?

It doesnt have to have  icons, and you could always hide the taskbar,

Yes, but that's hardly the size of a desktop, unless he has a perfectly square monitor.
