so um, i've gone over the custom object manual but as far as i can tell it didn't explain anything pertaining to my predicament, which is:

you know the huge spider that chases you? i want to create a similar CO, as in one that runs from one end of a pit to the other when you're on level with it and kills you on impact, with my own animation.

HOWEVER! i have no idea what code to use in the World file for that, and i don't know where the information for the original spider is stored.

can anyone help me with this?

Knytt Stories does not support that by default. You'll need to use a custom KS version, like KS+ or KS Ex. Just remember that, in order for people to play levels made with these tools, they'll need to use that version of Knytt stories too.

You don't need to remake anything. Both of those mods are backwards compatible. Just change the format to 3 for KS Ex or 4 for KS+. This setting is in the World.ini file of your level's folder. :)
