[Environmental] Fallout (updated 7/10/09)
« on: April 18, 2009, 22:40:02 »
Fallout (pending title)

I've just started on creating a world based around the game of Fallout.
It will be primarily environmental, with maybe a few challenges.
In the game, I'm planning to include not only the above ground wasteland, but also Fallout shelters, vaults, and perhaps even towns.
I will not be releasing many more details at the moment, mostly because I haven't completed much as is

But I'll include a screenshot to get you psyched anyway.

Spoiler: Story (click to show/hide)

If anyone has tileset/object/idea/music recommendations or contributions, please feel free to share! I'd be happy to use any help.

Also, if anyone is interested in starting a collaboration with me on this project, feel free to message me with any information/contributions you could offer.  ;)

Thanks!

Edit: added story.
Edit: added new screenshots.

I like the screenshot.

As for tilesets... I'm afraid there's a dearth of city- and interior-oriented tilesets. Especially grimy post-apocalyptic cities and interiors. Actually, there's a dearth of bleak tilesets in general.

Anyway, I know both Elder and Imaddo have made reasonably comprehensive interior tilesets. (Elder's here, and Imaddo's curiously not on the public tilesets page.) You could ask them if you could remix their tilesets to be suitably bleak. There are a good number of industrial-looking tilesets. No (public) slum tilesets as far as I know/remember.

Incidentally, how "based on" Fallout will this level be? I'd be much more interested in a game with an original plot and setting than an outright tribute game. (There is, of course, a wide area between these two extremes.)
good bye

Thanks for the tilesets.
And I'm not aiming so much for a tribute game, as more of an individual story (partly why the title Fallout is pending). Maybe Juni will be a survivor from another vault... who knows??
I'll release more as it comes.

Seems good.

Suggestions for the prewiew screen:
Add clouds or more background tiles or add different background
Some tiles are loking squarrose. Try fix it.

But the level will be really good.

As far as I remember I was helping you with tilesets ;)

I can try my best to create something useful for you, if you want.

Hey guys, sorry i haven't updated in a while. Busy summer :/. And the power cord to my laptop is dead, which i kinda need to edit levels.
@ Runman: If you want to create tilesets, I'd love the help. Up to you.
@ Comhon: Thanks for the tips. Now that I look at it, clouds would be nice.
@ Strange Darkness: Look up.

Translation: slow. :P I hope it doesn't get abandoned. That would be very bad. D:

Great screenies. The clouds really add something.
