The Game of Anagrams
« on: March 29, 2013, 06:31:18 »
Haldo, friendly and radiant people of the Nifflas Support Forum.  I would like to introduce a new game for us to play!  It's a game about anagrams, and decoding them!

The gist of the game is this:

The first poster presents an anagram of a phrase, and the following posters need to attempt to guess what that phrase is.  The person who finds the correct one first gets to make the next anagram, which we will attempt to solve like before.  This will go on forever, if we let it.

Now, here are some rules, so this doesn't get out of hand.

  • Your phrase should not be longer than 30 letters.  Attempting to solve an overly long anagram is not fun for most people.
  • Your decoded phrase needs to be one complete English sentence.  However, you should type the phrase and anagram in all caps, and you should not include any punctuation.
  • Your decoded phrase must not be a question or a sentence fragment.  Full statements or titles/names only.
  • The anagram maker can give any amount of hints that they wish at the start, but must wait until someone guesses to give out more.  A delicate balance is needed to keep the game rolling.  If you give out too many hints, your anagram will be cracked in an instant, but if you don't give enough, you will stump everyone.
  • If more than a week goes by without any guesses, a user can input a new anagram, but must still make a valid guess on the old one first.
  • Your anagram must use all the letters of your phrase.  Use this site if you need help making or decoding an anagram: http://boulter.com/anagram/
  • Do not give any hints out if you did not make the anagram.
  • You may only guess once per anagram.  If you guess wrong, you cannot change your post or guess again until another anagram is made, or a hint is given by the anagram maker.
  • Correct spelling is imperative!  If your decoded phrase is found to have any mis-spelt words, the person who finds it will automatically take the turn from you.

Now, let's get started, shall we?

I STOOD EBON SMUG TO

Edit by LPChip: I've added a rule against having a question as answer to make the game easier.

Things to remember when writing figures of speech and sound:
The power of poetry comes from the ability to defy logic. Defy logic often.

Use a metaphor and tell us that your lover is the sky. Tell us that your lover is the sky. When you do that, we won't believe you. We won't believe you because saying so makes no sense, but we'll see a meaning. We'll see a meaning.

The other thing is the ability to be remembered. Love anything.

Love anything

UNEARTHED MOM'S TOOTH

Oops, just realised I broke a rule by including punctuation. Too late now... but to atone for this, I'll add that the solution also includes an apostrophe.

HINT: the solution is a phrase most Knytt Stories aficionados would be familiar with.
