Custom Tilesets
« on: April 12, 2009, 04:18:39 »
Hi Guys, just wondering, If your making a custom tileset or editing a tileset you already have, how do you make the background invisible? whenever I try, It looks good except All the bits that don't have design on them are white, not transperant.....
How do u fix this????  :(

First of all, what Design Programme are you using? Paint.net? Gimp? MsPaint.

If you're using Paint.net, use the magic wand and make all the parts you don't want transparents, it should look checkered if you've done it right. (White and grey)
But lower the tolerance so not everything is transparent.

MSPaint, pure black works or there is that magenta color. Sorry, I'm not sure what color it is.

Gimp. No idea, don't use it.

With shotophop, you should make sure the mode you're using allows transparency, and then erase everything that should be transparent... also, make sure there is no background layer.
Code: [Select]

<Dataflashsabot> I love you too Gaeel!
<Gaeel> Wait are we really having this conversation?
<Dataflashsabot> I think we might be a figment of Gaeel's twisted imagination...

When you create a new document, make sure background content is fixed on transparent.
If you have a locked background, double-click on the layer in the "Layers" window; a box will appear and just press enter. the you can delete it's content with markee or eraser tool, or suppress the whole layer (providing you do have other layers in your document)

  You stole my answer!

Anyways, when you start it up look at this:

Put it on transparency so you have a transparent layer when you start up!
If you have a newer version

If you don't have photoshop GIMP is pretty much the best thing you can get. 9_9
Transparency in GIMP works pretty much the same as in photoshop.

I mean I don't use it.
Not, do not use it as in saying; "don't use that!"
