It's the obligatory touch screen controls... at first I thought the game was glitchy and was going to report that my character would change at random...
Then I realized that you did that by touching the screen, my thumbs aren't that huge, but the distance between the screen and buttons is small enough to barely touch the edge of the screen, which is enough to switch. It hasn't ruined any truly difficult part, but it is a bit annoying.
