Two truths and a lie
« on: March 04, 2013, 18:57:30 »
So I had an idea for a game and was disappointed it didn't already exist (as far as I could find), then I thought oh I can start topics!
The idea is to comment with three statements, two of which are truths and one of which is a lie (preferably about yourself), and the next person (or persons, though only the first one who guesses correctly should count) attempts to infer which one the lie is. The one who determines the lie correctly starts the next round, and so on. It's all in good fun, I just thought it'd be a good example of a simple game that also lets forum members learn trivia about each other.

1: I have ridden a bicycle up a steep hill I would never have attempted to walk or run up.
2: I have experienced a scorching desert and a rainy city within the same day.
3: I like Piers Anthony's Xanth series, but ultimately I recognize Anthony is a writer of formulaic fiction and believe he will never be as good a writer as Neil Gaiman.

I think 2 is false, seeing as those are 2 extremes.
1 is something that I'd do, and 3 is opinion so...

Note, I'm guessing that we wait for you to reply and see who's correct before continuing the next set of 3?

I believe 3 is false as it is written in a different way from the other two. Still, just a guess.

I think 1 is false because it sounds rather weird.

Yeah that was the idea I had, more or less, except now I'm wondering if there'd be a better way of doing this? If anyone has ideas for how to improve on the structure I've suggested thus far, don't expect me to shoot it down!

I think 1 is false because it sounds rather weird.
The opinion in 3 is indeed mine, and 2 is true by virtue of the most boring adventure of my life, in which I took what I think was a 12-hour train ride from one extreme to another. So 1 is false, either by the process of elimination or due to the exploitative fact that I never learned how to ride a bicycle!
So bumperpower64 has the next round.

Here are nicknames I may have used on IRC. Only one of them I haven't.

1. Bubbles, Tewi.
2. wheelforce32, Hugglebunny.
3. beepeedubya, NotForSale.

✘ 1. I think this one you haven't had
✔ 2. Sounds ike something you could've set in a drunkenmood or something...
✔ 3. I think I might even have seen you use Not for Sale one, but its typical for you to use that nick I think.

So I'm going with 1 is false

for those of you who are interested in using those nice checkmark thingies, the bbcode for the x = [x]your text here[/x], and the same for v. ?  And the ? can be used in case you don't know.

I'm going to guess that 3 is false, because I expect it to be true.

bulbapuck is correct.
I have never used the nickname Hugglebunny, however I do have that as my Personal Text on a different forum.
wheelforce32 was an alternative nick I had set back when I used mIRC.
beepeedubya is what J used to call me, and I've had that as nick for a short time.
Bubbles is also a nickname given to me by someone, I've used it quite a bit.

Okay, which one of these is a lie:

1) I've seen Lord of the rings
2) I've seen Fight club
3) I've seen Star wars

✔ 1. Many people have seen it, although I am not one of them, so I'd say this is true (Based on statistics)
✔ 2. Fightclub is a really good movie and I wouldn't be surprised if you had seen it too. So I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here :P
✘ 3. Many people also have seen star wars, but this is a kind of movie that must really be your kind of thing. Its my guess that its not your thing XD

So my guess is that 3 is false.

I guess that 1 is false.

Correct :)

Fight club is one of my favorite movies, and I saw all the star wars movies about a year back for the first time :p
However, I really don't like fantasy. So when I tried to get through the first LotR movie, I fell asleep.

Hooray! I apologise for the delay. Here are three statements regarding my sleeping habits:

1. I often find it easier to fall asleep in cars than in my own bed.
2. Lately, I mostly fall asleep at around 5am, local time.
3. I have never fallen asleep in a lecture theatre, though I have come close.
