can't get fourth item in chapter 1 to get to the fairies

I can't get the 4th item the guy wants for him to give me a stone to give to the girl to go see the fairies. There's an item way up on the right in a big empty room that I have to pass 3 jumping robots. There's a hole on the roof of the room but I can't get to the room above it. There's a hole on the left that I probably need to come out of but I can't get to that level, nor will the blue light from the left curved room keep with me long enough even if I could. I've doubled back to the beginning twice and gone everywhere I can possibly get to spending about 4 hours now on this game.

That depends. If you didn't learn from the mistake here, maybe no. But I bet it sparked your creative thinking so next time you're stuck, you will try something similar to as what you did here.

Yeah, no worries there. Sometimes it just takes a while to get used to a game's logic.
