PS3 vs PC GUI Differences
« on: January 15, 2013, 02:29:11 »
I'm currently playing through the PC version (amazing game!) and was reading stuff around the forums and noticed that some people were mentioning differences in the GUI for PC vs PS3. (Such as quest list etc.)
And was wondering:
1. If someone could list all of the differences
2. If any of these will be brought over to the PC version

Thanks!

You don't have coordinates or quests or mini chapters, but you have a few extra secrets.
Personally, I'd prefer the mini chapters :(

The GUI differences I've seen so far:

Menu:
  • New entry called 'Cloud Saving', next to Chapter1,2,3 and 'More Stuff'
  • 'More Stuff' has only 'Credits'.
  • Credits are arranged a bit differently.
  • Chapter start rooms don't show completed minimaps.
  • 'Erase Save' became 'Restart Chapter'.
  • The in-game menu got turned into a 'Pause' screen that has two new options: Quests and Upload.
  • 'Quests' shows a list of all(?) quests, naming only completed ones. Not sure what 'Upload' does.

Game:
  • There is a large round black X button in the bottom corner of dialog windows.
  • Using a savepoint the first time brings up a dialog window about 'lightbeam activation', and how many of the total have you activated.
  • Every time you enter a chapter in progress, you see your empty inventory getting filled from thin air with items you collected before.
  • Map bottom middle shows room XY coordinates. The numbers are laid over some map rooms, making them difficult to see.
  • The coordinates update when the map cursor is moved, but only over discovered rooms.
  • The cursor stays in the position you last left it, unlike the PC version that always starts out at your current room position.
  • From time to time a white Mi silhouette runs in the (usually black) lower area of the screen. Possibly a sync indicator.
  • Achievements are called 'Trophies' and when you get one, you are notified by a box on the upper right instead of the bottom center text on the PC version.

Not sure what 'Upload' does.
Same as Upload in Colud Saving - uploads save to cloud.

'Quests' shows a list of all(?) quests, naming only completed ones.
Yes, it shows all quests, including 3 quests from chapter 1. So, after finishing all quests in chapter 3, 3 blank spaces left.

The coordinates update when the map cursor is moved, but only over discovered rooms.
You mean it doesn't show coordinates of undiscovered rooms? Dunno about ps3 version, but on Vita it shows coordinates of any room...

Thanks for the info, Vivan!

Yeah, I watched a youtube video of the PS3 version; dude had the map cursor on a blank square = no coordinates. Wonder how this works.
