« on: January 10, 2013, 07:57:55 »
JayIsGames has a yearly roundup of the best games of the year. KU is up for the category of best indie adventure:

Update: Correct link. Thanks Widget. :)

I can see why it happened* (that site is laid out really chaotically) but you copied the wrong link for KU.

* The wretched site automatically redirects to the next category after a vote  <_<

Did it. Thanks for the heads-up, Haploid! :)

Some more info:

  • If you check the box titled "Game of the Year" on the top of the page before voting, you will also nominate that particular game for the Game of The Year award.
  • Voting can be done once a day in each category.

Voted. JayIsGames has some pretty questionable categorization, as usual. The vast majority of games I enjoyed in 2012 were either absent (only one Twine game? Really?), in the same category as Knytt Underground, or shoehorned into interactive art/experimental. The daily voting thing also makes no sense to me. Oh well!

The daily voting thing also makes no sense to me.

It's a really annoyingly overused scheme (scam?) to drum up traffic.

I haven't played most of those. Hydra Castle Labyrinth is good castlevania style game but too simple. Played a little bit of Home, it calls it self a horror game but I have a feeling that like Lone Survivor the aesthetic will take any sense of horror and rape it, beat it with a base ball bat, kill it then feed it's corps to a pack of dogs. If Slender wins I will officially give up all hope in humanity. Botanicula is in the running, oh crap.

Botanicula or KU. This is going to be hard.

Results are in: Botanicula won, KU came second.

Good going! Though I guess that Humble boost advantage was impossible to overcome.

And seeing that Botanicula ended up as Game of the Year, it seems entirely likely that Knytt Underground is #2 in that respect as well. :)
