I picked the first song, full well expecting something that would bore me and that I would not like, but I was pleasantly surprised. I've heard of Bloc Party before, only on /b/ though. It's still not exactly my kind of music, but if they're generally like this, I'm sure I wouldn't mind listening to some more songs. (Anything you'd recommend, Widget?) 8/10
I only own Silent Alarm (their first album) which was released just around the time I stopped buying music. I'd recommend that album wholeheartedly but it's one of those... "Two-EPs-shuffled" kinda albums (Manson's Mechanical Animals is always the first example I think of)... there are relatively upbeat, energetic tracks like Banquet (and Helicopter, Like Eating Glass, Price of Gasoline) and then slower, downbeat tracks (almost approaching shoegaze style, like Scarling) like Blue Light, Compliments and Plans.
I hope I haven't put you off too much; it's very well mixed and does hang together as an album if played start-to-finish
