Demo not loading? [solved]

Hello!

I recently downloaded Windows demo. When I try to play the demo the screen goes black for a second and then nothing happens. Is there anything I can do to remedy this? I'm super excited about this game!

Can you post some system specifications? It could be that you have an incompatible graphics card (i.e. Intel GMA945).

Second thing you can try is update your videocard drivers, but usually when something like this happens, its indeed incompatible hardware.

I have the same problem as OP, but updating my video card drivers did not help. Is the Intel GMA 4500MHD incompatible? If so I would be very sad, as this game looks awesome! I would have to fix my old computer and hope it works on that =D

I'm running it on a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5894, hence integrated graphics card. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the issue.

Basically, your GPU needs to support these OpenGL extensions (which are available on pretty much all cards):

• GL_EXT_framebuffer_object
• GL_ARB_vertex_shader
• GL_ARB_fragment_shader
• GL_ARB_texture_non_power_of_two

No joy for me, I've updated my graphics drivers (Intel Q35 GMA 3100) and the game just plain won't load.  Bummed.

Based on the list Mathias provided, I think I can see why.  My vid card won't support any of the 4 he listed:

I don't think mine supports any of those... take a look.

Most of the time, missing extensions are caused by old graphics drivers. Make sure you have the latest graphics driver, either from your OEM or directly from NVIDIA/Intel/AMD. Usually, your OEM will have outdated drivers, so try and find drivers directly from e.g. NVIDIA or Intel.

Some of the older low-end integrated cards (especially the GMA945 - ugh!) are hard to provide compatibility for; I don't know if it'd be worth supporting those. However, Intel's newer cards like the Intel HD4000 are actually quite decent, so it should really only be an issue with more or less ancient cards.

Yep, that was the problem.

Apparently, Toshiba doesn't update their drivers all too often. I had to force install the latest one from Intel, and now it works fine! Thanks a bunch guys, this game is AMAZING! I'mm'a have to buy it now =P
