[Platform/Shooter] Iji
« on: April 07, 2009, 23:38:34 »
Description:
Iji is an action-packed platform shooter by Daniel Remar. Iji, the protagonist, visits her dad at work, when she sees a flash of light outside. She later wakes up to find out the building has been invaded by an alien race called the Tasen. Equipped with their technology, she sets out to try and get them to leave. This is an excellent game with an awesome story, lots of weapon choices, and a unique level-up system. The story of the game also changes depending on how many kills you make, and it's full of secrets. It's also won multiple indie game of the year awards for 2008. Definitely a game worth playing (and re-playing ;)).

Have fun. ;)

Heh, played this a while ago... excellent game. It took three or four years to make, iirc. I might replay it (yet again) one day, try and beat Ultimortal. Oh, and I like the credits song. :P

The story is ridiculous and the dialogue is bad. The graphics are horrible and not very interesting gameplay.
The only thing that is good is the music and its not that good.

This game remains epic.  Still wish it were possible to get a decent amount of Supercharges on Ultimortal, though - would give me something to work for.

I liked the game so much I ended up putting together an alternative music pack for it. "PassivePack" (the alternative music replacement pack) can be downloaded here and there. Got author's (Daniel's) permission to do it, of course.

It flies from bough to bough.
It nestles in the rhubarb tree,
and Whistles like a cow.

I'm back baby.

Ahem. I found this about an hour ago, thought I might play for a couple minutes...and as you can tell, I've been playing it non-stop! This game is win. I also like how it changes your personality depending on how many aliens you kill. That's cool. :o EDIT: Hm. Maybe I was wrong. I beat the first two sectors without killing anybody (only doing a total of...11 damage? Somewhere around that.) and it was the same. Before, I was killing a LOT! :D

EDIT: I'd like to take a moment to say IJI'S MUSIC PWNS! Especially the drums. I'm a fan of drums, and I wouldn't mind learning to play. :o

EDIT2: Only read this if you've beaten the game!

A God, a Messiah, an Angel, a King, a Prince, and an All Terrain Vehicle.

Spoiler: Big spoiler, probably. (click to show/hide)

Also, I believe the damage counter refers to how much damage Iji takes, rather than how much she deals to others.
good bye

And things do change depending on how many enemies you kill.

The first time I beat the game I did it with 0 kills. (I had to replay several sectors 'cos I accidentally killed a few people.) I was disappointed that there aren't any unlockables associated with a kill count of 0, especially since getting 0 kills is probably harder than some of the other unlock conditions.

The plot changes were worth it, though.
Spoiler: Spoilery. (click to show/hide)

Oh hey it's probably important to note that a new version (1.4) of Iji was released yesterday.

There are, depending on your definition of "unlockables."  Or rather, there is.
