Name that tune!

Some of you might remember a little game we had on the old forums, where I played and recorded a bunch of videogame tunes, and you guys had to name the song and the game it's from. It was quite fun, so here we go again! 

This time the recordings are mostly videos in addition to mp3, and I've got quite a few new songs up my sleeve, along with the tunes from the good old days.

Rules are simple:

• watch the videos posted right here in the first post
• post here an accurate description of the tune(s) you've recognized
• watch this space for updates

The format of the description is up to you, and here is a rule of thumb: if someone who has never played the game can find the tune just by your description, then it's accurate (ie. "Super Mario 64 wing cap theme" or "the song that plays in Super Mario 64 when Mario has the flying hat", rather than "Mario 64 song"). Follow the links below and good luck!

Song 01 is definitely Song of Storms, and song 02 is Remplissage momentané by Nurykabe (from Knytt Stories). Song 03 I've never heard.

That was quick! And correct too: the first one is Song of Storms from OoT and the second one is Nurykabe's Remplissage momentané from KS. Great job, both of you! ^_^

Added #4 and #5 to the list, feel free to have a go at them too.

Thanks, I hope so too! That's why I try to keep everything as simple as possible this time: minimal retakes and no fancy editing, just what you'd hear live if you were sitting in the same room.

I'm having trouble placing #3 too, and #4 and #5 are complete mysteries as well. #5 sounds familiar though, almost like it's a reused folk tune, or something.

I bet almost everybody recognizes the first two and almost nobody recognizes the last three...

I'm almost sure I know number 3, kinda reminds me of the newer Pokémon games, but I'm probably wrong.

Nice guesswork, but it looks like we need to brush up on popular console titles from the PS1/N64-era and on 'tough indie RPGs'.

To keep the ball rolling, #6 is out and it should be an easy one. I'll also have stuff from more recent games soon. :-)

Technically, it's meant to be the intro/Day1 version, but otherwise both of you are correct, and Firecat's description is accurate according to Youtube. Sorry Blox! (The difference is mostly in the pace of the tune, as it gets faster and faster each day. There is a video that compares all three, like so: Day1, Day2, Day3. But I know, it's hard to compare when there is only one.)

With some technical difficulties out of the way, more videos are... on the way.
