[arcade/puzzle] Run 2 Run
« on: February 13, 2010, 22:09:41 »
Description:
The idea behind this game is to run. But just running would be pointless wouldn't it?

You have a corridor that you have to run through. This corridor has holes in the floor though, and you luckily can jump over them. Sometimes though the gaps are too hard to jump over or the passage they present is to hard to get to. Problem? No, you can walk/jump on the walls, rotate the entire screen and continue.

The game is located on a dutch site, but the game itself is completely English.

Controls:
left, right, spacebar (you can hold it)

Yeah it is... How far did you come? I'm currently at level 50, that one is really difficult. (49 too)

I also found this a couple of months ago - reminds me a lot of Skyroads, one of the first computer games I played. Level 32 isn't my friend on this, though.

The reason I put this as arcade/puzzle, is that you sometimes (like level32) have to puzzle what way to take. This means that if the obvious path is to go right, you sometimes actually have to jump left on the wall and take an easier path.

Also, if you hold the jump button, you can jump quite far. Somtimes over 2 obstacles at once. :) Did I mention you can jump diagonally, as in, jump and hold left/right to jump in that direction, which works on walls too.

EDIT:

I just replayed level 32 again. It was very easy. Got past on the 2nd try. This one is all about knowing when to go to another wall.

So I thought, lets record you a movie getting past. :)

Yeah, I started playing. "This is boring." But the levels got harder, with more unique designs. And I kept playing. 15 minutes later I made it to level 49. 15 minutes later I beat level 49. 30 minutes later I was still on level 50 - have yet to beat it!

Yeah, I played Skyroads a lot on my trusty old 386SX  :^^:  Awesome game, a great combination of racing and platforming... but man, some of the tracks were hellish. It took me about 30-40 tries to pass the last level. Oh, how I hated those accursed gray blocks that made you slip without control...

Did you know Skyroads was re-released as freeware? It's a DOS game, but it works perfectly under Windows using VDMSound or DosBox. Maybe I should make a thread about it...
Some KS levels by me:
