[Challenge/Short/Hard] The Greying Tower
« on: August 10, 2011, 13:47:07 »
A quick level I cooked up for SecretGlitch's KS competition, 'Claustrophobia'.
It's a short, retro-style level (kinda). Features two difficulty levels (neither of which is particularly easy), all custom music and three endings. And some COs I shamefully pinched from my previous competition level. I only had two weeks to make this! Gimme a break!

Download me.

Look at the pretty screenshots!

Pretty good level, here. I played it on retro-hard, which really reaches Very Hard tier IMO. For being done in two weeks, this is a pretty solid level, good work!
SG's difficult KS levels:
Very Hard: Dark Sea, Industral Trap.
Lunatic: Dark Sea 2, Going Left.
Very Lunatic: Safety 1, 2, and 3.
Misc: AdvancedAmidst the Clouds, Candy Town.

The thing with saying the words 'Super-Hard' is that everyone runs and hides when they hear it.

Wow, that was impressive! Hard mode is the same but with only one save per zone. I imagine you'd be more than capable of that.

Talps, I just want to say that all of your levels are awesome! Especially "Eurydice" was a masterpiece. One of the levels I began playing about one hour before I planned to go to bed... but then I was so fascinated and curious about how the story would go on - I slept much shorter as I should.  ;)

I really enjoyed this level, but I never got a sense of claustrophobia - only of desolation. By the way, the music was amazing - which track was it that you used in the intro?

The reward for completing Hard Mode will tell you. (Or I could just say it's 'Wandering Souls' by PlaidShirts&BigSmiles (there's a link for them in the level's credits).)

Thanks for the comments, guys :D Gan, I'm working on another sleep-stealing level at the moment called 'I Dreamed of the Sky'; check the preview forum.

In other news, my sig is now 499 characters long (what with the URLs) out of the allowed 500; I've no idea what I'll do when I release my next level.

Make a thread with all your levels and a link to that thread on your sig :P

BTW, sorry about that, I ended up figuring it out, not sure why I didn't see it sooner :|

Whew, finished it on normal. That was pretty tough! I liked it. I got two to the endings, do you have to play on hard to get the fifth?

As for the sig thing, let the sig point to a Pastebin page, where you can post all your levels you made so far. I think that's the easiest way to do it without making a new page (unless you want to make one).

The third ending is the reward for completing Hard Mode.

Is it 'socially acceptable' to create a thread on these forums just for that? Also, I have no idea what pastebin is but I shall wikipedia it at the first convenient moment.

Pastebin just lets you, well, paste stuff in a page and share it.
For your case, I thought it would be worth the trouble to have your levels with a small description and maybe a small picture for each of them, more like a gallery.
About being "acceptable", obviously not the one to answer that, but it would be a pretty stupid restriction, considering there is absolutely no harm in doing it.

So, I finally played this level. I'm a little backlogged on playing levels. It was really good! This is definitely a level not to be missed. I was really surprised to recognize some of the music in it. I had been considering Wandering Souls by PlaidShirts_BigSmiles for one of my levels. At any rate, the music selections were superb. You must have spent a while finding them all.

It may have been in your music thread that I discovered him (and subsequently the other two songs of his that I used). Did you play hard or retro-hard?
