[Challenge] Far and Away
« on: April 04, 2009, 06:01:27 »
This is my first KS level, so I thought it'd be good to post here to get some suggestions and critique. I've been working on this for about a month and I'm at the point where I need feedback to keep going  :)

Back story:
Juni's uncle Johannes is imprisoned far and away from her home by a despotic king. She must set out on her own to free him from captivity. Luckily, the people of the land are on her side and will help her in any way they can, including letting her into their homes at a moment's notice. Will Juni free Johannes, or will the king and the hostile environment keep her subdued?
--
I've been using mostly the default tilesets, but in the newer screens I've branched out a little to include art of my own.  I'm a little worried it might be sort of plain, so I'll work on that. It's at about 160-170 screens right now.

Some screens:

Comments? Critique? Hopes, dreams, fears?

First of all, welcome on the forum  :D
I like those screens, I can see each of them were designed with much care. I can't say that the story is original, but it still works ok.

For the tilesets,
Edit: here is a link to all the public tilesets.

Or you could just tell him to replace /forum/ in the URL to /forum2/.

EDIT: Oooohhh...Those screens look AMAZING for a first level! :O You may even give me a run for my money, and I've already made...let's see...3, I think, and I'm in the process of making a fourth one. Well, I'll give this a try.

Thanks - I'll definitely work some of those in! (And I'll be the first to admit, story telling isn't my strength  :P2)

I'd say that in the second screeine, the water looks to bright for the tileset. (The wiggle water on the ground at least)
Lurk more.

I'm inclined to agree, though I'm not sure how to make my own water...
