References to Dr. Wood that occur before meeting him will be altered to keep that plot point concealed until Juni meets him. I'll be adding clearance levels to all usable key card slots, to help direct the player. I'm removing climb from the start powers until the village has been visited. The cliff between the starting point and the village will be changed to prevent getting stuck there before getting the climb power. I'll be adding interiors to cabins, extra lab journals, and replacing the guy in the reactor with a robot. Finally, I'm designating Evil's underwater area as the entrance to the final section of the game.
I have a few questions. Is there an umbrella somewhere that I'm missing, or does it need to be added? Does anyone remember what that CO guy in lab 3 said? I have a use for him.
This is an outline of the story and game path I plan to use.
- Juni receives a letter from a friend asking for help
- Upon arriving the elderly friend asks her to collect fire wood
- Only path leads to village
- In the village Juni meets an elder who says the scientists upset the gods
- In the village Juni meets a crazy ex-scientist who indicates wood is in lab 4. And she needs to find keys in the other labs.
- In the village Juni receives climb
- Extensive key/key card finding. Direction will come from Journals and security levels written on card slots.
- Juni meets Dr. Wood. He asks her to get a relic from storage area in same lab. Gives Yellow Key
- Yellow key allows collection of relic in storage area
- With the relic installed Wood's machine fails
- Wood sends Juni to flooded Lab 1 to seal the "Black Tunnel" there. Gives ability to breath underwater.
- Juni seals the tunnel and wakes up in her Elderly friend's cabin. Good ending.
This is the section of a cutscene where Dr. Wood explains his understanding of the forces at work and the events leading to the current situation. I'm sure it needs some tweaking.
- Wood: The local relics mainly access 2 realms, and a life giving energy flows from one to the other.
- The effect of the energy's flow turned this land into a tropical zone.
- When the local artifacts were moved to our labs for study we reduced the flow of energy.
- The environmental change was barely noticeable at first, but the gateways to the life absorbing realms began to grow.
- We could walk right in to them. Kilometers of blackness absorbing sound and light.
- Then without warning the life energy reached a crucial low and the absorbing realm exploded into ours.
- In lab 3 safety devices restrained it, but lab 1 was...
- I'm not sure what happened to lab 1 exactly, but no one made it out and the area flooded.
- I need you to go there and misalign the absorption relics.
- Juni: So, I break stuff? Wood: Well, yes. Juni: Why didn't you just say so?
- Wood: You'll need this to breathe underwater. Juni: How convenient.
Note: I've written Juni as the satirical and rash character seen in
Shipwrecked. The level's a combination of suspense and silliness, so I've made Juni more interested in the adventure aspect than the hows and the whys.
