Changes made to the themes
« on: August 15, 2010, 22:05:43 »
You might have noticed that there are a few changes on the index of the forum.

If you scroll down to the games section, you'll notice that these forums are all a lot smaller than the other forums.

This was done to save space with the more growing numbers of games.

Each game shows a link [expand] which will make it big again as it used to be, and zooms in on the image for a better view.

There is one exception here. If a new post was made in these forums, they will be big until you've seen them. This way, they'll be noticed even better.

If you are not logged in, you will always see the forums big. This was done, because in the description, there are download links.

These changes have been applied to all 3 themes.

Something's wrong on my computer with these changes.

Some game forums are expanded when I enter the page and those Images are not correct. They've been pushed to the left and the rest if filled up with pink.

Will edit with screenshot.

Otherwise, great idea :)

EDIT: Attached screenshot. I use IE 8 and Windows XP

Seems it is loading the old images from cache. Try force refresh (shift-F5) or clear your cache. It will fix the problems.

It just looks weird to me. I don't like it when things are too inconsistent.
I'd rather that all boards have expand/shrink buttons instead of just a few.

I suppose I could make that. I'll look into this.

I'm not following you here.

On a newish mac, pressing F5 without any modifier keys raises the speaker volume.[/offtopic]

About the changes:
I think it is a god idea, but with them all running into each other it looks a little messy. I think it would be a good idea to have a, say, 5px space between each one, to give a bit of spacing. as is, it looks a little crowded

Edit: I've also noticed that when the board is collapsed, only the last post date is shown, as (i suppose) it should, but when i expand, the rest of the info (last post BY, etc) remains hidden.

I'm not dead. Not entirely. And yes, I'm embarrassed by most of the posts I made here.

Ah, I didn't knew F5 did that on a mac. Thanks.

The idea was to make it as small as possible because the more games will be made, the longer this lists will be. I already went from 25px height to 30px.

I suppose it looks so dense because you're not used to it. But I'll give it thought.

As for your edit, I've done this with reason. The logic behind this is as follows:
When you've seen the forum you do not need to see who posted what in which topic. Thats why new replies will show all the data expanded (the forum grows, and everything is visible).

Basically, I've tried to make the forum as compact as possible without disturbing any functionality. Thats why you can expand the forums to get the information it helds. But if you've seen it once, why would you want to see it again?

You can always log out to see everything full. (guests will see everything full so they can see the download links.)
