Is there a way to import data between browsers? :)
« on: August 10, 2010, 21:46:35 »
I want to switch browsers. I do not want to go to every page I bookmarked, and book mark them in the new browser. I do not want to input passwords manually too.

Would there be a more convenient way to do this?

I think most sensible browsers can im-&export bookmarks (for example save them in a html file that other browsers can then load up). about saved passwords, I don't know; doesn't seem too handy/wantable/safe to me though anyways, such a feature.

As far as I know, both Firefox and Chrome (the only two browsers you have any business switching to) ask you what to import as soon as you first run them. I think there is an automatic feature to import essentially everything (cookies, bookmarks, passwords). When you first run the new browser, I think it's the first thing you see.

It's evils buisness as to what he switches to.
Evil, i believe you own a mac, in which case Safari is quite nice. also, give Opera a go, you can import into that as well.

You're absolutely right. It's Evil's business. Evil has the right to use whichever browser he chooses, just like I have the right to inform him that 95% of the educated internet used FF or Chrome.

Let's not drag the thread off-topic.

I couldn't agree more :^^:

Evil, i suggest you try out several different browsers, for at least a week each. I always find that after using a single browser for so long, it's hard to settle on a compromise with another browser. What particular features do you like about firefox? with thos in mind i can make a few suggestions for you :D

I like the imgur right click image selection uploading data function feature :)

Thats about it really  Sometimes when displaying flash with firefox it would take a million clicks before it would click on the flash. And some times it would just crash randomly. And sometime tabs would freeze and not switch and I have to close the whole thing. And I heard it uses very large ram :(.

Ok, here is a list of browsers, listed in order from best to worst in each category. Please note that these results are either a) my opinion, or b) results based on my hardware/software setup. In this case, so as to include a native safari, all tests were conducted on a Mac Pro 8-core intel with 8gb of ram, running snow leopard. (except for IE)

the original question has been answered, and I don't think it's actually needed to put more or less personal opinions about browsers' qualities up for discussion once again.
