BloxMaster's Knytt Stories Tilesets (and Gradients)
« on: August 08, 2010, 00:11:09 »
Hey! I haven't posted anything meaningful for a while, so I'm here to bring a few tilesets of mine to the forum!
Screenshots and the tileset(s) will be in the spoilers! Right click the tileset and press "Save as..." or "Save Image as..." to obtain the tileset or gradient. These are only to be used for Knytt Stories and only with credit, thank you and enjoy!

Is that level can be played in anywhere, thanks. Please? Or are those just test screens?

Thanks ACWL, I really appreciate it!

Purple Pineapple, those are real screens from a real level that used an early version of this tileset. (none of the tiles used in the screens were changed, though). The level is not currently available for download; It is not finished, and isn't going to be. I may be tempted to release it as-is but really doubtful, just because I don't like showing off things that aren't even finished (thus the reason you don't see me posting a lot).

Its very nice indeed.

Would you mind to also share this very nice gradient? Or do you have a problem with that?

I am very impressed with the feedback; just uploaded the gradient as well into the first post!

I suppose the actual tileset is not what makes this tileset so great. Its the combination of the simplicity of the tileset and the more advanced gradient that blend so well together.

I have updated the first post with a new tileset! (The gradient used is default 103, I didn't make it.)

LPChip: You are right, the simple tileset with a more complicated gradient does work a lot better; I am glad you like it. :)

I can't wait to see more, if there are more.

wow, that second one sure is different to the first! and it deserves even more praise than the first as well. i must say that the pattern on the ground tiles is perfect!

Do you make all these tilesets for levels?
Not always! The latest tileset (A new day/night), for example is not strictly from any of my unfinished levels.

Thanks! I really appreciate it. And don't worry, there will be more.

That new tileset is not so very good, for you. Just not the same quality as your other work and not your awesome style.
I am sorry that A new day/night doesn't seem to live up to my usual quality, I was trying to make a tileset that was both easy to use, versatile and while trying a new style. I feel I was successful in that, it was a new style and easier to use than my more complicated tilesets. So, while I am sorry I was not able to please you with this tileset as much as my others, I am still glad I made it; I learned a lot.

I thank you for your comment! As I said above, it was not supposed to be similar to my other tilesets, but I am glad you liked it. The pattern was probably the hardest thing to make look right on the entire thing, I had originally gone with a brick-like pattern. (you'll see that in another tileset later on).

Thanks for the criticism guys, it really does help!
