A friend of mine is working on a pokemon project.
Like many other projects like it, it will include new pokemon, and, new music.
This project, unlike many others, won't be made with the emerald platform, it will actually be using its own tilesets, scripts and its own perimeters, (all sprites are 160x160, different bandwidth limits, etc.)
You can see the sprites already created here:
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65162
Currently scripting is being covered, spriting is steadily coming along, but music is yet to be developed.
I was asked to try and find anyone who could help with this.

If you are willing to help out, please leave a reply :)
You will need to be able to create unique music with the style/theme of the official games.

Update: 8/22/2010.

Spoiler: about the game (click to show/hide)

Update: 8/23/2010

Update: 11/1/2010
Information updates/changes

Thanks,
Dj.

I might give this a go. It would be fun to remix the pokemon red's gb tune where you wander in town.

Is there a deadline?

Not really, We have something like half of the sprites done over a 6 or so month period.. maybe longer. So I'd say by the end of the year-ish

Thanks for the reply, hope you can help :)

I can help depending on what you mean with:
You will need to be able to create unique music with the style/theme of the official games.

Do you mean the exact same instruments? Remixes? Or does it just have to sound a little like it could be in pokemon games?

EDIT: For instance, is this completely wrong?

Just a sidenote to those interested: The tune I'm planning to remix, is the pokecenter tune.

I mean it needs to sound like it could be official music, but isnt official music that was simply modified.
The pokemart, pokecenter and gym leader are some of the few that should follow the same tune.. so those 3 need to be remixed.
All route, caves, town themes need to be scratch, but in a poke-like theme
:)

Edit:
Bumper power, those are really great.
Mind if thats a special battle?
It's a little too dramatic for a normal one.
The normal wild battles seem to be slower at a lower tone and loop less gradually.

It's pretty awesome though :)

Yeah after I uploaded that I figured that wouldn't fit in a wild battle anyway :P
(Team ??? grunt battle maybe?)

Edit: is this better?

These are the ones you are saying for a grunt battle?
Or maybe a rival battle..
I love this one, and the first.
I do have one little nitpick, though.. Do you think you could softer the higher pitched electronic sounds?
In the first one, it's fine because it would fit rotom or something, but for a grunt battle it's a little too electronic.
So if you could soften those extra high parts,
For example, seconds 0-18 seem to be sort of unrelated to seconds 50-60 because of the high pitch.
Thanks for the contributions :D

No I meant the second one for a wild battle. And about the high-pitch part: I can't change anything because I'm using the demo version of fl-studio, which allowes no saving, only exporting, so sorry.

Well they're great. I'm sure that Wichu will find a use for them :D
Thanks for the contributions :)

Edit:
So you were thinking something like this?
The quality is distorted..

is the actual sprite.. (my sprite :D )

Wild porygon? srsly? But yes, something like that. Wait, let me give you an example of the music looping.

The first one, Intro and 3x loop.
Second one, Intro and 2x loop.

Edit: Victory music and the intro for it:

Sorry for a delay, I was waiting for a response by the game author. :)

Quote
Anyway, would you mind passing on some feedback? IMO, the music sounds too electronic at the moment, like the Game Boy games. The DS games use a variety of instruments for the sounds, rather than mainly synths. Also, the second track ('wild Pokémon') is currently a bit too repetitive; although wild Pokémon music is usually short compared to trainer battle music, this one feels a bit too short. Finally, both tracks could do with a longer intro. The official music usually has a short (8 bar, AFAIK) intro after the 'encounter sound' and before the main melody starts, while the Pokémon/trainer is scrolling onto the screen.
Apart from those, I really like them, and I'll be sure to include them in the game once they're polished up a bit :)

Sorry for double post/bump..

Unfortunately as I already explained I'll have to start every track over, not that it's a huge trouble. It will however take me longer to listen to every instrument to recreate it, change it into another instrument, adding instruments and make every track longer. This is because I'll need a full day to make a track. But since my sister got addicted to sims 3 recently that may not always be an option. But I assume the game won't be finished any time soon, so I guess I've got no deadline.
I'll try to remake something Thursday.

It would be awesome if you could, and this doesnt render your work useless.
Victory music is great, and the battle musics can be edited.
