CC or PD Music
« on: March 29, 2010, 00:21:31 »
Okay, I'm going to sound like a complete noob, but here I go anyway.

I'm looking for places to download and use good Video Game sounding CC (Creative Commons) or PD (Public domain) music.  Key being they are Video Game sounding music.  9_9  it isn't that I don't like Niflas' music, it's that I've heard it time and time again and want a little something different with my levels.

This problem is also compounded in that I have limited internet time, but that's another story.

Does anyone know where I can get such music?  Of course the artists would be credited in the level.

Ah, I had one bookmarked, but it seems I erased it. D: Well, you could always Google. :)
A God, a Messiah, an Angel, a King, a Prince, and an All Terrain Vehicle.

Jamendo is pretty good. It isn't all video gamey stuff, but most of it would probably work, and almost everything is CC licensed.

If anyone cares, I found Newgrounds has a music section.

Almost every song in down loadable and under Creative Commons licensing.  Seems everyone is cool as long as you credit them for the music. some want to be contacted, first.

They have atmospheric and clasical (I'm in love with Robert Fenn so far)

9_9  Still looking for good sites with PD music, BTW, so post 'em if ya' got 'em.

I find  http://www.flashkit.com  is quite good for free loops/sound effects in many categories etc in a few
formats, although not .ogg, but there programs out there to convert.

if you are on the NG portal, here are some artists I reccomend;
  • Kr1z-Brilliant dance tracks (good for fast paced action genres, e.g. racing, gun 'n' run)
  • HalcyonicFalconX-She does very good classical-ish, and a few good rock tracks (best for fantasy RPGs, but works well for any boss fight)
  • Waterflame [prev.Chainsaw_09]-very good electronic, drum & bass, breakbeat and classical, and everything in between (no fixed hair colour)
  • Grn-drgn-good with a piano

Hope some of this stuff helps, and even if it doesn't, remember:
11 IS GREATER OR EQUAL TO 3

EDIT:sorry, I thought that for a moment, you were making your own game, not a KS level.
none of these make atmospheric, ambient music for that purpose.
sorry!
