Error message when attempting to run KSManager
« on: February 28, 2010, 07:35:35 »
It seems that when I try to open/use these tools, I get an error message that says "Multimedia Stand Alone Application has stopped working."  I checked to see if it was in the proper filepath, which it was.  I also tried to re-download the manager and, after that didn't work, Knytt Stories itself.  I couldn't seem to find anything referring to this in the stickied threads.  If it helps at all, I'm running this on Windows Vista and the problem's details are as follows:

Code: [Select]
Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
  Application Name: stdrt.exe
  Application Version: 3.0.248.0
  Application Timestamp: 4764083e
  Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll
  Fault Module Version: 6.0.6000.16386
  Fault Module Timestamp: 4549bdc9
  Exception Code: c0000005
  Exception Offset: 00062613
  OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.2
  Locale ID: 1033
  Additional Information 1: de30
  Additional Information 2: bea15b4f05d53936168c570881cec777
  Additional Information 3: d20c
  Additional Information 4: 6d85a39be05ae847ea5a28cd41e19779

Another note: before I re-downloaded the manager, it'd work on levels that were already included in the game (Tutorial, The Machine) but not on others.  Now it won't work on any levels.  Also, first post.
^Probably opinion.

Velkom to ze NSF, Citizen Inzane XD

As to your problem, It does seem quite peculiar.
1) Are you opening the tools from Knytt Stories Level Editor, or straight from the .exe?
2) What Application is crashing?

Also, I noticed that the Application name is 'stdrt.exe'. I have seen this somewhere else before, and I don't think it is KS. Stupid Question, Is your Knytt Stories folder zipped? (this results in major stuff-ups), and also make sure (I'm sure you have) that the KSManeger is in
Code: [Select]
./3rd Party Tools/KSManager
If that dosn't fix it... I don't know what will!

Edit: Also, A trick that I learnt from a friend, Try running it in 'compatibility mode' or 'run as Administrator' (in your right-click menu)

I'm not dead. Not entirely. And yes, I'm embarrassed by most of the posts I made here.

isn't this addressed in the [faq] or something, with regards to problems with running KSManager from a path that's too long?

"stdrt.exe" is the internal filename for all applications made with TGF2/MMF2 from Clickteam. KS manager was made with MMF2, so that exe is indeed the KS manager. I recommend restarting your computer and doing a clean boot if moving it to a higher directory doesn't help.

I really doubt that its a vista-exclusive error.

There are a few possible causes and solutions mentioned in the [FAQ]. Did you tried them all?
