[Challenge] [Medium/Hard] The Elevator Beneath The Valve
« on: February 15, 2010, 16:53:43 »
//THE ELeVATOR BENEaTH TTT:THe VALvE//

The air down here is of thickened, strangling mass. A gentle resonance gives way to almighty mechanic/bestial rumbling. Slowly, hymnal tones cascade through the walls amongst the crawling filth. "Humanity..." she thinks "is not far away."

---

This is a short little level, only 100 screens or so, an industrial horror-cum-platformer. I don't intend to make it jumpy, this is a slow build if anything.

I've composed 20 minutes of industrial ambient for this - It'll be best played with headphones. Overall, I hope it's a unique experience, at least. Expect this around late March.

This is the best level preview I have ever seen!

I love the premise, and I know you can't go wrong with custom music! I'm looking forward to this a lot!

Can't really say if it *looks* promising yet (as there are no screenshots ;-)), but it certainly *sounds* interesting!

lol hmpf?

One of the most impressive preview screens I've seen. Sounds like a very nice concept and there aint so much for ks in this direction. The 20 minute comp sounds just awesome as well. I'll look for this in late march, if it will get done  :)

Well, to me that was not an actual screenshot from the level. It looked like a screenshot of the title screen. Which, in my experience, often has very little to do with the look of the level itself.

None of this means that I think this will not be a good level, of course. Aptequar has a good track record, from what I've seen, so I fully expect this to be great. *g*

I'd definitely agree. Book, cover, etc.  :P

Still, like Hmpf,  I'm really interested in seeing where this level goes  :^^:

That image just blew me away. Although, as mentioned earlier, the actual level is quite different from a representative image.

Thanks so much for the comments, everyone. It really means alot. ^^ A few more like that and you might actually coax a preview screen out of me. :D

This level is on track for a late March-early April release, just to let you know.

Screenie! Screenie!

Well, there's not much to compliment on besides the info screen, which is smashing by the way.

Shoop skills /= KS skills.
This might turn out to be really good, but an impressive preview screen really says noting about the quality of the actual level.

Between the splash image and the teaser text, I'm reminded of both this recording  (which, like Don't Eat the Mushroom, is best played blind the first time) and the Submachine series of games. The level may not be anything like either one, but in the meantime my interest is piqued.

Actually, it's eggplant.
