[Music] Mechanical soul
« on: January 31, 2010, 15:39:36 »
This song started out as the theme for the A Strage Place level in WaDF 2, but since it didn't fit that well with the atmosphere of the level (and because the project got abandoned. :P) I decided to make something else with it.
Describing it is kind of hard, since I don't have any idea what genre it is. I guess its some kind of DnB/Progressive breaks/Ambient techno/Liquid thing. Yeah.

Listen, or Download
Feedback is very appreciated.

Oh, this is really good.

I think it has an interesting choice of key.  It's kind of in between modes and feels a bit jazzy.  I feel like the note at 0:15 (and all subsequent occurrences) should maybe be raised a half-step or something (I mean, it's very dissonant), but that would take away one of the unique aspects of the piece, and it would also radically change the mood of the piece.

From 1:45 to 2:00, I'm especially reminded of the Explorer 42 music in Saira. C)

My favorite part is pretty much everything from 2:30 on.  I think that instrument is really cool, and I like the starting & stopping of the drums at the end.  What I don't like is how the drums fade out.  They should just stop.

Looked at your other music for WaDF, by the way.  The piano/harp/whatever that is in Factory is awesome, but I feel the song lacks immersion at the beginning.  This is in contrast to City, which gave me chills (wish it was longer, though :awsum:).

I was actually thinking about tagging it as gangsta rap, just for the heck of it. :P

Thanks. :) I used Fl studio 9, although that is hardly important.
