[Easy][Environmental][Small] Moonlight
« on: November 29, 2009, 16:04:03 »
This level is a sort of an afterthought from Pestilence (http://nifflas.ni2.se/forum/index.php?topic=1942.0). It is only 8 screens long and done in a similar style, only a little bit more tender:

I'm sorry, but I can't provide screenshots without spoiling the level - since it's so small! Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

Um... is it supposed to look like this, or am I missing something?

Yeah, it's supposed to look like this. I didn't think you would download this level, since you disliked the visual side of Pestilence, and this level is similar, like I warned in the post... *shrug* sorry.

EDIT: Also, would you mind putting the picture into spoiler tags? Since this is really a tiny level and you've just spoiled, well, most of it.

Wow. The visual style is really beautiful, sort of in the manner of abstract art or impressionism. Kudos to you, my man.

Thanks! If you haven't tried it, try Pestilence, it kind of drifts more towards abstract art... and is also bigger and more playable :)

Heh, I know what you mean. I'll try to avoid this sort of thing in the future.

I'm working on a bigger level now (see http://nifflas.ni2.se/forum/index.php?topic=830.0), but it's got a normal visual style. And after it's finished, well, who knows...  ;) Thanks for your feedback :)

I thought this was really beautiful and an ingenious use of those tiles sets.  I'd love to see more!  I do agree with the problem of not knowing ground from background, and maybe one of the ground maker tilesets could be used to make the traditional black lined contact layer.  Definitely make a larger version of this when you have time.  :)

Thanks! I wasn't planning a larger version of this, mostly because it would be difficult to add another area - most tilesets wouldn't fit. And making the level into a huge area all built from the same tileset wouldn't work very well. I do have another level planned which will be made of gradients.

It's really neat looking, I hope to see any more of these levels from you in the mid future.

One thing though, is this just a cool art level, or is there meant to be any story in it?
What

Thanks! No, there's no story, but now, after Headgrinder's comments, I'm thinking of maybe incorporating this into another level, which would feature a story...  <_<
