Aaaand it's over! A resounding 7 entries did make this contest much more interesting.

I graded the entries with a point system that judges a level on all it's merits. The scores were pretty close, so don't anyone think they did terrible. I suppose I'll just put the top 3 winners in this one, since it was a big turnout this time.

1st place
Grimwit
  -  45 points

2nd place
Headgrinder
  -  43 points

3rd place
Bulbapuck  -  37 points

Great job to everybody who participated, I hope the next compo will be just as good! :D

Out of curiosity, how many points did mine earn? :3

I'm not expecting a very high number, so don't worry about offending me. XD

It was unfortunate that your level was unfinished, PP. If it was completed it'd probably be on the top 3.

Congrads Grimwit.  I like your use of background pngs to make more complex graphics (at least I hope that is what you did).  The single save spot has drove me crazy though.  I"m very stuck at your blue key room.  I also am impressed that you made a 2 screen game FEEL like it is much wider and more substantial.  Good job.

I'm trying to play though everyone entry right now, since I've got the time now.  Will comment soon.  :)

Um...Okay.  I have a couple of ideas for competitions, but this one stands out the most.

Given that it's summer, I'm thinking of the Tropics and there's this one tileset I really love called "A Beach and a Cave" by Paul 'Ripen' Naumowics.  You guys know the one, right?

I'm not sure where you can get it, and I can't remember where I got it.  Also, I'm not sure if we need Paul's Okay.  If not, I'll switch to my back up plan for a compo.

The Rules.
-------------
Object:  Create a level where every screen uses at least 1 tile from the Beach and Cave tileset.

Specifics:  In every screen, you must have Tileset A selected to the Beach and Cave Tile set.  At least one tile on the screen should be from this tileset, and must be visible to the finished screen (no fair hiding backgrounds).  Also, you may not alter Paul's tileset in TilesetA.  Tileset B can be anything you want, including an altered Tileset (assuming this is all okay with Paul).

No fair using a level you've already done, too.

Level Type:  Any style level is acceptable.

Level Size:  Level must be a minimum of 10 screens and a Maximum of 20 megabytes.

Due Date:  May 5th, so we can drink our Mexican beer while playing our tropical levels.

Side notes and questions:  Um...Do I have to judge?  If yes, is there a set way to judge or do I come up with my own.  Also, I'm pretty sure, Judge or no, that I sit this compo out, right?

Can you upload the tileset, assuming Paul's OK with it? That way anyone who doesn't have it can get it.

Why? There is no difference between tileset A and B.

Honestly?

1.  To make it easy for me to check your work.
2.  Because there is no difference between tileset A and B, so there's no problem with doing it, right?

Um...Sure, go for it.  >_>  So...Does anyone KNOW Paul?
