Only the tenth and you guys are already finished?

I had a sketch before the competition was announced, and worked more or less every day since it was announced, so...  8)

Haha!  Finally finished my tileset and 4 color variations.  Now I can actually build my stage!  :)

I THINK I can put something reasonably nice together in that time...  But now I've got to mow the lawn.

I may end up having needed those three days. Could we possibly have an extension?

Holy crap Grimwit!! That level is very bad ass! I don't know why I like it so much, but it is pretty cool, also I like the technique you used to make it! Props to you sir!

BEHOLD!  The BLUE HOUSE!
Really nice level as far as atmosphere is concerned. But OH MY GOD WOULD IT KILL YOU TO PUT SOME SAVEPOINTS IN? Especially in the outer wall climb.

"Challenge" does not necessarily mean "hair-pullingly frustrating." But I haven't played your level yet so I'm not going to judge it until I do. X3

Yep. Multiple screen challenges are a lot more frustrating than shorter ones over one or two screens.
I'll try to explain why.

If you think about it, it isn't actually any harder to do a lot of semi hard challenges than it is to do one really hard one.
The only real difference is the sense of progression.
Getting through several screens with challenges is more frustrating than getting through just one, because it takes more time, and doesn't let the player progress through the level any faster than single screen challenges. Loosing while trying to do that feels like a bigger setback than if you loose in a single screen challenge, but the sense of progression is roughly the same because you only moved one save point forward.

I hope that made sense. :P

Really, multi-screen challenges aren't too bad, given the precondition that there's few random elements within that challenge. This level wasn't all that bad about randomness except for the final climb, which was basically a crapshoot as to whether or not that final droplet thing enemy would kill you or not. Nonetheless, I've beaten all entries so far, but I'm not at liberty to say which one is winning just yet.

That just gave me an idea for my level! Thanks.

NOTE: My level will be best played in my KS mod as of now.

Thanks for the extension.  I was about to forfeit as I got so obsessed with my tile set development that I've only got 4 screens done.  :/  I should be able to accomplish something by Sunday.  Thanks again.

One [search]s for mod in the Nifflas Sources board by user Purple Pineapple, and one finds this thread. :P

Technically, though you could play in normal KS, but my mod will "enhance" the experience, with the release of the newest version. ;)
