Might not be very active for a while

My graphics card blew up, and I can't even turn on the computer properly. I'm typing from my parent's computer for the time being, but I'm gonna have to wait until I either get the graphics card replaced or fix the problem. 

So yeah.

If you just take the card out, you should be able to use your computer fine.  It'll be slow like molasses if you have desktop effects of any sort and you obviously won't be able to properly play any DirectX/OpenGL games, but you'll be able to post on forums and all that.

Also, I suggest buying a cheap microwave at a thrift store, and microwaving the blown-out card.  (Do it outdoors, though.)

Aside from the rather off-the-wall comments, I to hope you get your computer working again. Minmay is right to an extent I think, remove the card and (assuming that's the only thing wrong) it may work again. A graphics card shouldn't completely disable your computer, unless it has no other source for graphics. (AKA, if it has integrated graphics, it should work if you take out the graphics card, I'd think) Another solution is to just replace the card, I suppose.

Ah yes, your computer should work well without the graphic card. Depending on your computer however, it shouldn't be independent to your graphics card.

And I think we need a shoutbox. Shoutbox is good for things like these so that we wont have these topics. And you can't say anything like it in niffchat so Shoutbox is very good. And it's fun.

It doesn't matter whether you have a graphics card/integrated graphics of any kind as far as simply being able to use the computer, unless something's configured in a very strange way.  If you have integrated graphics, then that's equivalent to having a (probably pretty cruddy) graphics card as far as the operating system is concerned.

Hopefully a new graphics card is all that is needed.

And for the shoutbox whing ...requesters, Shawn's initial message could've gone there, but would've been scrolled out of the buffer by "O HEY LOL I HAEV A NOSE" and other similarly interesting facts in no time.

I hear you, but that doesn't change my opinion about shoutboxes. We've had it on the old forum and it pretty much became useless since we have the IRC channel. Want to chat, go there instead. Banned from there? Well, then you would've been banned from the shoutbox too.

I'm back on my computer, and it's good to go My dad picked up a new card and it's running fine.

Turns out the fan broke on the old one and was periodically overheating until it finally burned away.
