Names of the Official sound effects?
« on: September 25, 2009, 06:15:32 »
I'm trying to make Xorons 2 a lot more different than normal, like some advanced Goldsource engine mods. I would like a list of what the sounds  are called. For example: Juni walking, Collecting power up or the lasers turning off and on. And I cannot just look at them through open source, because it just does not work for me. Can someone please give me a list?

I'm not really sure what you're after, since you shouldn't need to know the names of the sounds for level editing.

So I assume its not about level editing, but the source itself. For that reason I'm moving it to the sources forum.

I was just intending on changing the official sound effects just for this Level, but in a simple way by putting the sound files in a folder with the same name, like people do with WAD or PAK files.

Ah, I see.. I'll move it back then.

You don't need the names for those soundeffects. If you put a sound in the music or ambience folder (say music01.ogg) it will be in that music slot.

Changing the sounds that come with the game is not a good idea, because then you need to create somekind of installer to change those sounds, and then another installer to undo those changes. I'd not want my sounds to be changed, honestly.

I thought you could just make a Folder named "Sound" in your world folder, then put those Sound effects in there (only for this level).

Hmm... I doubt that this'll work, but I really don't know if it does.

Nifflas (or anyone else that has seen the source), can you confirm this?

Why not just make a mod? Seems like it would be the easiest way to do this.

No.  You can't.  The only way to change those sounds is to modify the KS executable itself.  Not really something that you'd want to do for one level, or for anything, for that matter!
