Level Editing Help Please!
« on: September 13, 2009, 06:41:01 »
Hi, I'm new... erm, I admit I'm a little, er, weird.

OK. I'm trying to make a tileset, but when I submit it into the level editor, all the white stuff still shows up! Er, look at the tilesets in the Data folder to see what I mean... it's just annoying! That white stuff prevents my sloping terrain from working.  :(

If I did say anything, who would it affect?

I'm sorry, we can't quite look at the tilesets in your data folder unless you provide them...but do you mean you can't make it transparent? Take a look at this thread and see if it helps.

No, I mean... by "look in the Data folder" I mean the Data folder for YOUR Knytt Stories game.

EDIT: Oh pfft, forget to say thanks for the link. ...Thanks.

Why would the data folder for one of my Knytt Story games have a tileset from one of yours? Unless it's one of the default tilesets, in which case, which number?

Sigh... I mean the tilesets already there!

I think she's trying to say she has a problem with the transparency.

Londeea, in order to create your own tilesets, you have to place them in the world folder, not in the data folder. Once you put your tileset in the world folder, it will be shown in the level editor and in the game. Replacing the tileset in the datafolder will cause it to stop working.

By "the white stuff" I assume you refer to transparency.  The fact that it "shows up" in your tilesets means that you are not saving the tileset properly.  MS Paint has no support for transparency, but you can fudge things by using magenta (RGB 255,0,255) where you want transparency.

MS Paint is crap though, so you should get something that actually supports transparency instead, like paint.net or gimp.

Would everyone please stop hating on MS paint? If people want to use it that's their business, and Londeea didn't ask us what program we think she should use.

Check out my tilesets!

I'm just saying. MSPaint doesn't support transparency. Its generally better and easier to use a program that does support transparency if you want to have transparency. Do things properly, y'know.
Of course you can use magenta instead if you really want to. I can't stop anyone.

MS Paint. I just call it Paint though...

Oh yes, I need a little help with another thing: Ambiance doesn't work (this isn't Nifflas ambiance).
EDIT: And I really wonder what the + layer button is for?
(Sorry about all these questions... I am new to KS... )
