[Easy][Environmental][Large] Outer Reaches
« on: July 13, 2009, 19:21:37 »
Level preview topic is here.

Well, it's done. I really don't have much to say. Screens and download link are below.
EDIT: Outer Reaches, my first level, is a large-size environmental level I created over the course of about a month and a half, and the end result weighs in at over 300 screens, with more than 15 secret screens to boot. The story was tacked on at the last minute, so don't expect anything exceptional there. :P There is also no "Win" tile, so if you don't find one, don't worry about it (there's something else that counts as signalling the end of the game, though). Likewise, there are no powerups within the world; Juni has everything she needs from the start. I hope you enjoy it! :D

This is a good environmental level.

It was a bit challenging for me, but I guess its just me.

Nice level! BEautiful scenery but i think the towns were a little lifeless, the citizens could've talked to you or something. :/ I would also have enjoyed if there was powerups spread over the world (if there are, i have completely missed them  ).

But awesome still! The music made it even better :)

I like this level very much, I think more levels thould be made like this.  It was good fun to play, I didn't mind the fact that I never found any extra powerups, they weren't needed.
Trekking all the way...

I dont think they were needed either although i think a enviromental level goeas more fun with high and double jump.

But the reason i like finding powerups is because it then feels like you are accomplishing something. No big deal but would be nice. :)

Accomplishing the level itself will feel like you accomplished something :)

Fwahhh! I liked this level a lot and I'm so glad it came out so soon! All the areas were really nice, the only thing I think could have been better was the red part above the volcano village, the background of the blue area from knytt was a little confusing and I think it having people talk (like with signs) would have been nice so they'd seem less like decoration. But the areas were carefully and well designed with no voids so i think it's all good!
PS you should make it more clear on your first post that there ARE some things to look for.

what? there is an ending?

[mod]removed unneccessary nest-quotes, which also, as I'd think, makes clear how it is concerning an ending.[/mod]

There's not actually an ending exigo, but there is something close to one that will make it quite clear that you have found everything. ;)

Lots of custom music (14, with an average file size of ~2.3MB), tilesets (20), and CO's (31, but most are pretty inconspicuous). Which in turn led to a 10-minute upload onto Sendspace, thus my nicknaming it "Slowspace." On a related note, I now call FileSmelt "FailSmelt." ;)

Very, very pretty.

As for the secrets: can they be hidden above a ceiling as well, or do they tend to be in places that I may walk on or climb? I'm asking because I'd rather not have to jump up against every ceiling tile to test if it's solid... ;-)
