Sorry for double posting but I have an idea.

Instead of just filling up Nifflas' forum with Minecraft maybe we should just use a simple forum website live vBulletin or something and create our own forum to discuss Minecraft. Maybe name the forum after ACWL's server?

Did LPChip contact you or is this really just an honest idea?

No this is actually an idea. I wouldn't think Nifflas or LPChip would mind we're talking about this game so much. But just as a courtesy (and to organize all our ideas better) I think a separate forum from Niff's should be considered.

On another note, how do you all like my house?

This is a bit off topic, but I would like to know how you guys are running your servers? I've been really interested in setting up my own home server (mainly for accessing files and an external hard drive (though I already have a 1TB one). Technically my reason for running my own server is purely to grow my ego.

Either Jim or ACWL I'm pretty sure you are running the Minecraft servers one spare desktops so could you post up pics of the setup so I have a general idea on how to put everything together?

The server probably will not be on 24/7, i just left it on last night when jimj was still playing. Actually.. i might leave it on 24/7, but i need to run a logger to see how much internet it chews through, because my mum get real frantic about that stuff.

And Wanderer... The bad news is that im running the MC server off the same computer that i play it on, which is a Laptop

But to set up a server of some kind, you need to hook everything up to a router. Windows can normally find things if you do that. But dont listen to me, im no pro at setting up servers and stuff (seeing all the other computers in my house are Macs )

I've just swapped to MCAdmin for the server. It now supports a whole bunch more commands. As it says, just type !help to get these commands. You have all retained your OP status. If you want help, just give me a yell here (or on the MC forums that i'll set up if you want me to)

Lol ok, I have an extra laptop (Running Fedora) I could install Ubuntu Server Edition and run a server off it if you couldn't have you're server up all the time.

I'm running Windows 7 on my 24.5 inch iMac, so I like Macs, but Windows is still my fav.

I'll let you know if i need a spare server, i should be fine for the moment. Also, the minecraft server seems to work better on Windows Vista / 7 (because i am using MCAdmin)

I'm going to be hosting an alpha server starting maybe next week. If I see anyone who has a Nifforum account, I'll promote them to Builder!

EDIT: jim, your server is SUPER laggy.

And can I be an admin if I build the Temple of Nifflas?

I also support the creation of this NiffMC forum. Maybe I could admin it... ?

I'd like to be a mod on the forum if we can get enough people to join. Also, being an OP on ACWL's server would be spot on too.

So, about my requests. If admin's not suiting you, I'm fine w/Super Mod.

Anyway, I started an Alpha project. It's called-

THE ALPHA MAP PROJECT

Basically, I'm mapping as much of an Alpha map as possible. Will post a current map soon.

I'll probably make all you guys mods on the forums (which ill set up after ive fixed the server)

And yes, i'll check through the server log for names (or post em here), and add you to the OP list



The server, as you may or may not have noticed, is having lag issuesMusta been my client or something. I'm still going to change the setup. For this reason im going to do a bit of re-arranging of my setup, so if you cant connect, dont worry. the map HAS been saved. I'll post when it's back up and running again.
