Question for people who have used TGF and TGF2/MMF2
« on: June 15, 2009, 07:24:24 »
I understand that the Knytt games were created in MMF2? Thing is, I notice the platforming movement in Knytt is flawless, and in The Games Factory 1 it's terrible and buggy, forcing game authors to create custom platforming movement engines.

Since I've been wanting to get a better tool than TGF1 for a while, my question is this: Is the platforming movement engine in TGF2/MMF2 actually worth using now, or do you still have to use custom events to iron out the bugs?

Or for that matter, is there a better alternative to making platforming games without having to code it from scratch? I don't mind if there's scripting involved, I've done some coding in my day, but I don't think I could write the entire game engine myself.

I remember back when I was clueless about all the extentions. Then, DragonMC (Kasran) showed me this:

Indeed, in MMF2 the Platform Movement Object is a really great tool for making platformers.
(Incidentally, the PMO was what Nifflas used in Knytt. XD)
grao!
