Gustav's Contest (WINNERS ANNOUNCED DEC 1 2023)

I am quite saddened, but I must announce I won't be able to finish a level this time - for this competition. I partially made two distinct areas but I realized trying to "finish" it would be just stitching them together with a few cutscenes.That is something I do not want to do - I would like to make it enjoyable and put some more effort in it. Moreover, I started the level as some testing screens and ideas for a bigger project, and felt the areas would be too incomplete as they were being published as just areas on level map screen without more context.

Very late to the party but I've just started planning a level called Gustav's Forest. Odds of me finishing before the deadline are probably a lot slimmer than I like, however.

Still, I'll do my best.

Talps I'm so happy to hear that you've joined our contest! And I can give some time grace to people to finish their stuff up, Gustav's Retribution will take me some time anyway.

I felt a bit embarassed by how long it takes me to finish the level so after I sent the beta version to Hmpf to test the easier path I sent it to Lucinda too. I expect there will be only minor changes and the final version will be out some day next week. Honestly it's just like liquid soap but with several different tilesets.

Congrats to all the winners! And @Polana, I should be able to play tonight (various annoying household chores to get out of the way before I start though, sigh). Looking forward to it!

Those sure are some interesting results. I didn't expect first place, but i didn't expect it to be so close that the fact that mine was lower-effort is what ended up determining who won. (I hope that says more about my level than about Polana's...)

Just so you know, these image links no longer work. I believe it's because they're hosted on Discord, which changes its file links constantly. I believe you'd have to upload them somewhere else to make them accessible outside of Discord.
