I need a hint! (thread may contain spoilers)

I've been wandering around the game for a while but I seem to be stuck. I'm pretty sure the missing piece of the puzzle is the second iron ore, which I have no idea where to find. Can anyone provide a hint to help me get there?

I suppose this thread could be used by anyone else in the same situation.
