[Medium/Challenge/Tutorial] 100 Ways to die.
« on: August 03, 2010, 13:37:21 »
Im just letting the community know that im creating a tutorial on how to die in knytt.
yes you heard right
theres all these tutorials on how to play the game and survive so i thought i might creating something a bit more.... strange!  :D

(and yes i will be explaining 1,000 100 ways to die ranging from juni geting killed by water to more imagitive ones such as exploding cats)

Basic Information:
Size: Small
Catergory: Tutorial/Challenge (probably misc)
Theme: The theme is death

Storyline:
Juni has voluntered to show how knytts are very fragile and can die in numerous ways (she wasn't happy bout this)

also if you have an idea on a way for juni to die (yes i know that sounds horrible) then feel free to post below and i might incoroperate it into my level :D
for those who are thinking wait you said 1,00 ways to die before? well i found out it will obviously take too much time and will be quite repetitive so im cutting it quite short.
also soon i will add newer better screens as i found a way to make the level look... well beter.

Cool concept. Good luck thinking up a thousand different ways!

Anyway, falling into a bottomless pit of void and being forced to CTRL+R?
Menagerie - 25%
Skyline Spires - 5%
A Golden Hymn - 0%

The Great Machine, Antikythera, which grinds the blood of men into history.

Very original! I once had this idea to build a tutorial level with all kinds of craziness, but quickly abandoned it. Anyway, I like the screens. But wouldn't it get, you know, a bit boring after a while? One thousand screens, even 300-500 screens all built around the same concept would probably become tiring quite soon :/

First of all thank you for all your opinions.
After spending two hours straight last night i have decideding a few things.
Firstly i will continue this project.
Secondly i am changing it from 1,000 to 100. A) So it doesn't take as long to create the level and as yohji stated to make it less repetitve or boring.(hopefuly)
Thirdly i have realised that the presentation of this level is a bit...umm well as Salmoneous has bluntly put it.. shit.
So i am experiting ways to make the presentation style more enjoyable.
So look between the different types of images and say if its better presentation then the other old pictures....

You have grammatical errors in your signs. 'Known', not 'know', and 'they', not 'the'.

vvv - No problem

After taking a quick look at your screens, I'd suggest you pick out one or two people to look through it and fix up the grammatical errors after you're done.  It would be good just for the sake of making it look a little more polished.

I like the arrow pointing to the knytt.  I'd keep that.  :)  Might be fun to have various arrows and blueprint type of stuff; kind of a tongue in cheek over precise description of how to die.  :)

The screens are shaping up.  You might decide for sure on a theme.  You've gone from plain and simple layout to surreal.  Which is fine, but if you want to do that, I'd do it consistently and go all out, which would mean making the deaths and text surreal and nonsensical at times.   My 2 cents are, again, go with the scientific/engineer approach so that the layout is reminiscent of a science lab or cheesy school show on killing knytts.
