Point of the intro?

What's the point of the bit of dialogue in the beginning? He's late to class because...

...because of what? Can someone tell me s'il te plait?

I think it's a she actually...

Anyway, it isn't specifically said why the main character is late, but I assumed it was because of all of the challenges/puzzles during the game. But again, it's pretty open to interpretation.

I thought it was to be interpreted entirely different. With he, it is you, the player, but spoken from a third person perspective.
