PDA key mapping
« on: December 12, 2009, 03:14:35 »
It really annoys me that while D opens the PDA, I have to reach up to Esc to close it.  There's no comfortable position for my left hand is on A, S, D, and Esc.

But still, other than that...

NOT WORTHY!  NOT WORTHY!  (bows down to Nifflas' incredible powah)
I'm buying it.

That's why I mapped my keys to 1, 2, and 3 rather than A, S, and D. Makes for a little less of a stretch, I think. :P

Yes, that's a bit inconvenient, and could also potentially 'break' the game, if you have multiple languages and the ~ key is assigned to switch between them. It's all too easy to press by accident when you reach for the Esc key.

One solution could be to map the three action keys closer to Esc. ;)

Oh....

I just found Settings.exe. XD
So while that uncomfortable Esc will have to stay, at least I can bring the other keys closer.

I was complaining here because I figured that, like most of Nifflas' games, there weren't any options.
Because after downloading enough games without any settings, you just stop looking.

The Escape key on this laptop is uncomfortably close to 1, so I'm going to try 2 (pic), 3 (jump), Space (PDA) so that I don't have to twist much.
EDIT: Bleh.  That's no good.  I'll keep trying.
EDIT2: What's annoying is that the `(~) key doesn't even work in it (I can assign it, but when I try it in-game, I get nothing). I was going to try 1 (pic), 2 (jump), `/~(PDA), but I guess I can't after all.

yeah, after playing the demo that was the only annoyance that stood out. Glad to know you can change the key settings around.

I think the problem is that D both opens the PDA and opens the PDA while you're already interacting with another mechanism, so having D close the PDA by default could lead to conflicts.
good bye
