Level Themes

I have run out of ideas for themes for my level. And I've only done about 3 so far. What I do have is a town&sewer thing going, a jungle, and a mountain&volcano thing and at this moment I'm working on a prairie but I think it will just get turned into a transition for the next area. So what are some other themes I can do? Do NOT say space cause I'm not doing space.

you've named lots of areas there... think of some actual places on earth, the lava tubes in greenland (or iceland can't remember xD)  caves, oceans, deep sea trenches, mountains, small villages, huge cities, military bases? theres lots more, just look at some maps

Tropical jungles too!

Factory? Cemetery? Church? Abandoned, dilapidated building?

Also, you could try fantasy levels as well. Candyland, for example. How about a water temple? Cloud city. Ancient Rome/Greece stuff: the arena, a menagerie, prison, torture chambers...

Inside the stomach of a beast. Inside a computer or machine. Heaven/hell stuff. 


There are just some possibilities.

Unless your making custom tilesets, I'd say you look through the tilesets and choose one of them.

A post-apocalyptic city. That hasn't been done before in a completed level, iirc. (Not counting Farik's, that was too short. )

Personally, I love everything with a lot of water and rain and waterfalls.

How about play some levels for inspiration. I highly recommend my levels.
