[Challenge][Normal][Medium] Search for the Lost Cores

Search for the Lost Cores is a basic, old-school KS adventure in which Juni gets stuck on a random planet and has to track down missing parts of a spaceship to repair it and resume travelling (sounds familiar...?)

I started this level both as a simple way to get back into knytting and also for me to try and see what I could do using only stock tilesets, since I have hardly ever used those in... decades. I originally didn't even intend to release it since there's nothing really special/groundbreaking at play here. It came out fairly decent though, so I ended up changing my mind. If you're looking for a classic/vanilla KS experience, you may get some enjoyment from this one!

This level does NOT feature any custom assets, with the sole exception of the cutscenes, and even those are made using KS stock graphics. So yeah, this is as vanilla as it can possibly be, with no mods required/supported (you may choose to play it on KS+ for flicker-free yet slower screen transitions, but that's about it).

So, to recap, here you will find:

  • No custom tilesets nor animations!
  • No new music nor ambience tracks either!
  • No exclusive features for KS mods! (besides SinglePass mode enabled by default when playing on KS+)
  • Absolutely no apricot and blackcurrant jam! Although I kinda wish I had some...
  • There ARE cutscenes hovewer! And a very simple, KS-esque story.
  • Two endings, one of them being a bonus/secret.

This level is part of my 2024 Christmas Triple Release Pack(tm), which also includes:

It's great to see how your unique style translates to default tileset use. I actually really do like that shiny blocky one you featured. It's a fun challenge but I'm kinda stuck at the end. I think I

Thank you for playing, glad you liked it. I've been meaning to take the default tilesets for a spin for some time, mostly out of curiosity to see how they could be used to build the sort of screens I usually make, as you pointed out. The reason I built the entire level around the "Plastic buttons" set is precisely because it kinda resembles the type of shaded surfaces I would normally use in my own sets.

Nice, short, classic-feeling level that makes use of tilesets I've become intimately familiar with thanks to The Search for Silence. :p

It took me a little bit of confusion, but I did figure out how to reinstall the power cores without too much fuss. My only complaint is that the background of the ship was a bit dark compared to the floor tiles, making it hard to see exactly where the floor was at times. Everything else was solid.
Things to remember when writing figures of speech and sound:
The power of poetry comes from the ability to defy logic. Defy logic often.

Use a metaphor and tell us that your lover is the sky. Tell us that your lover is the sky. When you do that, we won't believe you. We won't believe you because saying so makes no sense, but we'll see a meaning. We'll see a meaning.

The other thing is the ability to be remembered. Love anything.

Love anything
