[Challenge - Puzzle] (Hard) A Hero's tale
« on: December 08, 2010, 17:35:06 »
I am not dead, okay? I can still make levels too, so this would count as my second level.

This one will focus a little less on eyecandy and more on challenge.

The story goes as this: Your race is threatened by an evil figure who forced them into their underground holes, but a hero battled against the evil being, but died whilst doing so. Now Juni, who is more ignorant than brave, ventures off to stop the evil man from taking away her home, and killing her friends.

Some screenshots

I hope to finish it sometime this year. Anyways, I hope this level turns out good.

It looks good! I like the story, and the style of the screenshots (like that blue keyhole that looks like a locked window). I hope you get through this project  :)

Eh, this looks good! I like all of the screenshots except the last one, which is kind of a bit bland and looks like a lot of screens in a lot of levels... not sure why. Anyway, looking forward to this, hoping you're not making this Lunatic  ;)

It's just going to be hard. I have trouble most of the time keeping difficulty in the level, so I make the level, add enemies and traps, then fix any inconsistencies.

Any ways, I couldn't make a lunatic level because I naturally am bad at platforming, so hard is the best I can test.

Edit: I redid the bland screen. Is it better?

The new version has a lot more character and looks more in keeping with the other screens. I'd call that a resounding success  :)

I guess I could say that too. :P

I think what I like so far about this level is that it's going to be split up into chapters, and in each chapter you have to re-find your power-ups, like in the transition from chapter one to two, you have too many power-ups that you will weigh down a boat.

I like how you re-did the last screen from the first post. The new screens are nice as well! Maybe get a few fireflies into that labyrinth to spice things up? And in the last screen, the blank background makes it difficult to understand what is solid and what isn't.

I'm really looking forward to playing this; that chapter break sounds like fun!

I can present demos, right? As in, I can post the level as it has gotten so far, as a playable preview.

I think you're not supposed to in this forum, not certain about it though.

I guess you could take a gamble on the link being deleted by a mod, or you could just create a separate thread in Knytt Stories Level Releases and post the preview there. You'll need a thread anyway when you release and it's one less job for Miss P. or whoever else  ;)

You can only post finished levels there.

This is rather thorny.

In that case I guess you can just put the link in here and hope you're not doing anything wrong. Even if you are, it'll clearly be my fault  ;)

Posting links to betas/previews is forbidden in this subforum (read the rules, there's a link at the top). Very unfortunate, but... eh.
