Steam version?
« on: January 04, 2011, 02:31:44 »
To those who might know,

Based on this quote from Nifflas:

Quote
Saira would never have been a success at all if I didn't get it up on Steam, and the Steam release isn't even something I planned from the start...

Are there any plans for releasing NightSky on Steam?  I'd pay more for it personally.

Thanks!

"For those who've e-mailed us. NightSky will be available directly via the Nicalis website and other distributors, but NOT Steam." -Nicalis' Twitter

Yeah, that's why I started this topic.  I already replied to that tweet (http://twitter.com/#!/trevorade/status/22101223222022144).

I'm just trying to get an official reply from either Niclas or Nifflas.  I can't see why they wouldn't want their game released through as many distribution channels as possible.  Volume = win.

Apparently Valve wasn't interested in the offer, but Nicalis said that Cave Story on Steam is still a possibility.

Apparently they aren't very specific about the reasons behind game rejections in general; if Night Sky was indeed rejected, then it's likely not even Nicalis knows why, and we could only speculate whether it's because of bugs, for economic reasons, or for something else entirely.

I don't know if Nicalis can resubmit the game to Steam after being rejected though.

I'll not mention any names (for obvious reasons) but the indie-tagged games available on steam include some of the worst games I've ever seen anywhere. I'm curious as to what bizarre set of criteria would okay some of those but turn down a polished game by a proven designer  O_o
