Title: [platfomer] I wanna be the guy.

Type:
I wanna be the guy is a super hard platformer.

Description:
I wanna be the guy (nicknamed the world's hardest game) will make you tear your hair out then smash your computer with it's sheer difficulty (i can't get past the second screen!).It even gives you a girly bow on your head if you pick the easiest difficulty.

 Basicly the storyline is that a young adventurer wants to become THE GUY to do so he needs to collect red orbs from bosses like mike tyson and even a dragon to get to the guy and begin the final fight...

imo this game is so annoying it's not fun.  I can't get past EITHER of the second screens.  I like the music though.

Theres 3 screens, not 2. (up, down, left)

And I can't get past any of the first bosses. (havent tried hulk yet)

personnaly i think the difficulty is a bit overated.
i managed to get past one of the bosses. but then the demo ran out of area :ohnoes:

This game is so hard its not fun. I hate hard platform games. Since in a platform (like this one) there is mostly one way to get through and that is so frustrating.

haha i recently played this XD it was in-SANE! haha i got pretty far i got to the vampire boss but then gave up lol it was hard but not impossible

Beat OS_XH in under a few months. Can't beat two screens of this in an hour.

Besides, OS_XH has an easy version so you know how to play.

Guess that's true... but do notice the underlined may. I know that it is no real competition, for most people, but some people will do better on I Wanna Be The Guy that OSXH, because everyone has different strengths and weaknesses.

do you? I actually think this game is very fun and I had loads of fun playing it.
Of course it is hard but (for me) it is very enjoyable hard.

I wish I could agree with you, but I tend to like mildly challenging, not "in your face, you died for the 99999999th time" kind of challenging.

Yeah, that is very frustrating. I like more dying and learning from my death so I can make up a new strategy. Avoiding doing the same mistake again. But in platform games you die because you cant make a jump and sometimes it can be very frustrating to do the same mistake over and over again.

A demo will come out soon, the current levels are easy for IWBTG standards, but later they will be near impossible.

BTW, it will be a game maker game, using the Engine tijitdamijit made. And it should be vista-compatible, its made in 7.0 Pro... if it wasn't vista compatible I wouldn't know why it works on my PC.

I actually beat a large portion of this game. I uploaded screens of them to my photobucket account long ago when  was showing that old Mario forum i use to administrate.

I think that person edited out the parts where he died.

Which "second boss"? You can go in four directions, facing the bosses virtually in any order.

I beat Mike Tyson and the Mecha-Bird. I am currently trying to get past some screens in order to confront Dracula. Die, monster! You don't belong in this world!  XD

So far it's not that lunatically hard. It just needs a lot of coordination and trial-and-error.

If you beat I Wanna Be The Guy, you should try the fan-made games, I Wanna Be the Fan and I Wanna Be The Tribute. They're not as long, but they're still difficult (maybe even harder then the original game. :D)

I would say they are easier, I wanna be the Tribute is extremely easy compared to IWBTG and IWBTFG looks easy as well, (but long).

Not on Ultra dificulty. Try it (WITHOUT slowdown!). It took me like 20 hours.

I win. I beat it. The final boss wasn't actually that hard. I just got to it, and the placebo effect kicked in. Now someone please tell me why I've beaten the final boss three times and I still haven't won.

I walked right by it the first time, the second time I was just going offscreen, and couldn't see it. The morning after that post, I beat the boss on my first try and got the thanks for playing screen. So now I can play bossrush. Yay!

This game is really hard. I wouldn't get anywhere without watching "Let's play" videos... The farthest I got to was Bowser/Frog boss I forgot the name/Dr. Willy and I didn't go to Mike Tyson yet.
